Public Consultation on Draft Casual Trading Byelaws

Longford County Council invites Public Input on Draft Casual Trading Byelaws in accordance with Casual Trading Act 1995

The Draft Casual Trading Byelaws are available to view from 19 November 2025 to 21 December 2025 in Áras an Chontae, Water Street, Longford, N39 NH56, in Ballymahon, Edgeworthstown, Granard, Lanesboro and Longford Libraries and on the Council's Consultation website at www.consult.longfordcoco.ieHard copies can be requested, free of charge, by contacting the Environment Section at 043 334 3462 or environment@longfordcoco.ie.

Members of the public are encouraged to make submissions through the following options from 21 December 2025 to 11 January 2026.

• Online: Complete the Public Consultation form at https://consult.longfordcoco.ie

• By Post: Clearly mark correspondence "Draft Casual Trading Byelaws" and address it to:

• In Person: Attend any of our in person drop-in sessions with a Council representative from the Environment Section:

Longford Library – Friday 28 November 2025, 10am to 12pm
Lanesboro Library – Friday 28 November 2025, 2pm to 4pm
Ballymahon Library – Wednesday 3 December, 10am to 12pm
Granard Library – Wednesday 3 December, 2pm to 4pm
Edgeworthstown Library – Friday 5 December 2025, 2pm to 4pm

The final date for submissions is 3.00pm on 11 January 2026.

A person who is aggrieved by any proposed byelaws (excluding those referenced in subsection 2(d) of the Casual Trading Act, 1995) may, within a period of 21 days beginning on the date of compliance by the local authority concerned with subsection (6), appeal to the District Court against the proposed bye-laws and that Court may, on the hearing of the appeal, prohibit the proposed bye-laws or authorise them subject to such conditions (if any) as it may deem appropriate and specify.
