Proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Longford Town Local Area Plan 2025 - 2031
Longford County Council have prepared Proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Longford Town Local Area Plan 2025-2031.
In accordance with Section 20(3)(f) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), it has been determined that a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is required for some proposed material alterations and an Appropriate Assessment (AA) is not required for the proposed material alterations.
In this regard, the following documents are published for inspection and public consultation:
The Proposed Material Alterations and associated SEA, AA and SFRA documents will be placed on public display and may be inspected from Wednesday 5 February to 4pm on Wednesday 5 March 2025 (both dates inclusive) during normal opening hours at the following locations:
The Planning Office, Longford County Council, Áras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford Town, County Longford, N39 NH5 (during normal office hours).
All County Longford Branch Libraries – Longford, Ballymahon, Drumlish, Edgeworthstown, Granard and Lanesborough Libraries (during branch hours).
Have your say on the Proposed Material Alterations
Written submissions or observations with respect to the Proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Longford Town Local Area Plan 2025-2031 and associated documents, may be made within the above period and before 4pm on Wednesday 5 March 2025.
Submissions or observations in relation to any other aspects of the Draft Plan cannot be considered at this stage in the process.
How to make your submission:
Written submissions or observations should be clearly marked ‘Proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Longford Town Local Area Plan 2025-2031’ and must be submitted via oneof the following methods:
By post to: Senior Staff Officer, Planning Department, Longford County Council, Áras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford Town, County Longford, N39 NH5.

Online, through the submission form facility available on Longford County Council’s Consultation portal: https://consult.longfordcoco.ie/
Submissions should quote the relevant Proposed Material Alteration reference number(s) where relevant.
Late submissions will not be accepted. Deadline for receipt of submissions: 4pm on Wednesday 5 March 2025
Written submissions or observations received shall, in accordance with statutory provisions, be published on our website within 10 working days of receipt.
A report will be prepared on submissions received and will include the names of those who made submissions. This report will be published on our website. Details of your privacy entitlements and obligations under GDPR can be read on the Longford County Council website.
